 How old do you have to be to play the Dist. of Columbia State Lottery?
In order to play the Dist. of Columbia State Lottery you must be at least 18 years old.
 
 What happens to the money generated by the Dist. of Columbia Lottery?
The majority of the money generated through Dist. of Columbia Lottery sales goes toward the Dist. of Columbia General Fund, a portion of the the money generated by the Dist. of Columbia Lottery is used for administration, operation and capital expenses for the games licenced and operated by the Dist. of Columbia Lottery.
 
 If I win the lottery can I remain anonymous when I claim my prize?
No, the Dist. of Columbia state releases the winner's name, hometown and prize amount as public records. Winners also agree to allow their photo to be used for reasonable publicity.
 
 Will my winnings be taxed?
All Dist. of Columbia winnings are subject to income tax. For prizes that are over $5,000 the lottery will withhold 25% for federal taxes and 8% for state taxes. If you win more than $600 and are unable to provide a valid Social Security number or taxpayer identification number 28% will be withheld for federal taxes.
